Porter Robinson‘s alter-alias Virtual Self, has been gaining traction for quite some time now. After releasing his debut EP in December last year, followed by a surprise set aboard Holy Ship!, the American producer recently delivered a mini mix for BBC Radio 1‘s Annie Mac. Playing tunes from PrydaKlanken and of course, himself, his short time on the show is nothing short of spectacular.

Annie Mac starts things off, blending a healthy dosage of Drum & Bass, Jungle Tech House and commercial tunes, with music from artists such as Calvin HarrisKoveMichael Calfan and Icarus among others. A nod to Porter Robinson’s forthcoming mini mix, Mac played the smash-hit, ‘Language‘ before he himself hopped on behind the decks.

With Trance making a gradual, yet undisputed resurgence from the underground, Robinson’s new musical direction is only fitting. In his half hour on the show, Self, played a number of Trance anthems, including Ian Van Dahl‘s ‘Castles in the Sky‘, Tenth Planets‘ ‘Ghosts‘ and DJ Taucher‘s remix of ‘Ayla Part II‘. Boasting a dark, subterranean atmosphere, Virtual Self proves exactly why he’s one of the many acts spearheading the Trance resurgence.
