The final nail in the coffin might have come in a 3 sentence response made by Steve Angello on Twitter at the start of this week. Since the super group’s breakup in 2013, there has been no greater time in the past 5 years when a possible Swedish House Mafia reunion might have been possible. Ultra Music Festivals 20th anniversary is set to take place on March 23rd to the 25th. There have been so many cues and questionable content floating around the internet in the past few months, amongst all the buzz, this tweet from Steve Angello might be the most unsatisfying.
Ultra Music Festival currently stands as the world’s number one festival according to DJ Mag polls, every year it is one of the most hyped, most adored, and most electrifying EDM events of the entire year. The roster of artists the festival brings in is nothing short of astounding. Every sub-genre of house, trance, dubstep, and techno is represented in some shape and form. It also serves as an outlet for producers and DJ’s to showcase new music, and network with fans and other contributors to the scene.
This years Ultra is propped up to be one of the most prestigious in the past couple decades. Fans were informed to “expect the unexpected”, and relish in the idea of “special anniversary performances”. So what’s next? We will have to wait and see.
