American Future Bass duo The Chainsmokers have released their third single in as many months; ‘Everybody Hates Me‘. Having released ‘You Owe Me‘ and ‘Sick Boy‘ in previous months, the duo aims to eclipse their previous releases with their latest track.

While the track is undoubtedly catchy, unlike their other light-hearted Pop singles, ‘Everybody Hates Me’ highlights the duo’s displeasure with inundating criticism and the struggle of managing fame and fortune. In the second verse, Andrew Taggart sings the following vocals with a heavy heart:

“I can’t even check the time without facing regret Why do I still have to mean everything I ever said? And I’m not trying to be like ‘poor me,’ I made it I’m just trying to stay normal now that they know what my name is.”

‘Everybody Hates Me’ follows a string of recent unflattering, self-deprecating tracks, littered with self-pity. However, despite the negative connotations, The Chainsmokers’ latest single follows the same successful formula they’re known for, once again captivating listeners beyond reason. The duo appears to have somewhat changed their sound as of late, pushing an even more electronic-inspired sound, as opposed to their signature Grammy Award-winning Pop records. Nonetheless, the slight change is a welcome one, regardless of their fans’ mixed reactions.
