EDM’s unequivocal godfather, Tiësto lit up Miami during his epic Ultra mainstage set last night. Amidst a stacked lineup, the Musical Freedom boss shined on the mainstage alongside fellow Dutchmen Fedde Le GrandMike Williams and Afrojack. Since 2001, he has played at every Ultra, making 2018 his 16th appearance at the prestigious festival.

Tiësto kicked things off with a cool intro edit of his Chainsmokers collaboration, ‘Split (Only U)‘. Straight after that, he revealed his first ID of the night, a collaboration with Merk & Kremont. While the track does incorporate many elements from Merk & Kremont, the drop’s melody structure and sounds have the Dutchman’s imprint all over them.

He soon followed up with a number of crowd-favourite tunes such as ‘Secrets, ‘Show Me‘ and ‘Scream‘ before introducing his next ID [13:28]. In addition to the plethora of modern-day magic on display, the 49-year-old turned back the clock by remixing and mashing up classic anthems such as ‘Day ‘N’ Nite‘, ‘Let The Bass Kick In Miami Bitch‘ and W&W and Blasterjaxx‘s ‘Rocket‘, much to the crowd’s delight.

Soon enough, Tiësto reverted back to the new music. He revealed an unreleased track halfway through his set [36:25], and also delivered new music with Aazar and  Alan Walker. In addition to this, he premiered new material from, Rigi & Piros, protégé, Dzeko and 4B and TEEZ’s new tune ‘Whistle‘. While he did play plenty of Electro House and Big Room tunes, the Dutchman added an element of diversity to his set as he incorporated Future Bass, Dubstep, Trance and even Hardstyle, to which he closed out with. Once again, Tiësto proved why he’s widely regarded as the godfather of EDM.
