Major Lazer perform “Lean On” live on The Tonight Show
It’s an exciting time for Thomas Wesley Pentz a.k.a Diplo. The dance music giant has collaborated with pretty much everyone worth knowing about in the music industry, and it has been working out very well indeed.
This year he has released his first album under the name Jack U with the king of dubstep – Skrillex. The album features contributions from 2 Chainz, Kiesza, Justin Bieber, AlunaGeorge and Missy Elliot. The albums success gained the pair a closing performance on the main stage at the Miami leg of Ultra Music Festival at Easter.
While all this has been going on Diplo has also been working on the third studio album to be released under Major Lazer, his dancehall / moombahton group founded in 2009. The group now consists of Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, who have been members since 2011 and worked on the group’s second album ‘Free The Universe’ and also helped to create Snoop Dogg’s first reggae album ‘Reincarnated’ under his alter-ego Snoop Lion.
Their latest album which was released June 1st of this year is titled ‘Peace Is The Mission’. It features another set of huge names including MO, DJ Snake, Ellie Goulding, 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande.
In order to promote their new album and first single, the group gave a live rendition of ‘Lean On’ on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. With Walshy Fire sitting behind the Piano, Diplo strumming on the guitar and Danish vocalist MO centre stage, it sends out very chilled vibes, just proving why this single has been labelled electronic song of the summer. Take a look for yourselves.
Major Lazer’s album ‘Peace Is the Mission’ is available to download now.
