Mark Ronson – I Can’t Lose (Duke Dumont Remix)

Native instruments sale

Like a fine wine, Mark Ronson seems to get ever better as he matures. The English DJ and producer’s first album failed to make an impact in the charts in 2003, but his subsequent 2 albums released in 2007 and 2010 peaked at number 2 in the UK.

The last 12 months have been particularly exciting for the funk and soul specialist, after releasing that huge single titled ‘Uptown Funk’ featuring Bruno Mars (if you haven’t heard it then we have no idea where you’ve been since December). His latest album, a tribute to Amy Winehouse called ‘Uptown Special’, became his first UK Number 1 this year.

Adam George Dymont, better known as Duke Dumont has had a very similar influence on the UK singles chart, with his tracks ‘Need U (100%)’, ‘I Got U’ and ‘Won’t Look Back’ reaching 1, 1 and 2 respectively. A seriously impressive feat.

So, when we saw that Duke Dumont had given one of Ronson’s funk singles some deep house treatment we had high expectations. We were not disappointed. The stunning vocals were kept but the funk was stripped away and replaced with a stomping bass, classic synths, claps, snares and a crazy trumpet. Take a step back into the 80’s with this instant classic.
