One of Norway’s musical prodigies, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, also known as Kygo, recently celebrated his second consecutive solo number one hit in his native country through his collaboration with Parson James entitled “Stole the Show”. And with continued success like this, he is bound to attract some fans in places where he may not have expected. On this occasion, these fans come in the form of Crown Prince Haakon & Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who are in fact Norwegian royalty. The pair were recently in New York at a reception at the Norwegian Consulate General, where Kygo himself was also an attendee. At the event, they all kindly took time out of their busy schedules to stop for some questions from a Norwegian reporter.

During the interview, Kygo discussed his busy summer of festivals, what he has in store for the future, and in particular, how he has been refocusing on music rather than media obligations.

Everyone wanted to talk to me, and it was a bit much. I took a little break from all that to just focus on the music… It is strange to see that so many of these dreams have come true. Now I don’t quite know what new dreams I have. But I’m working on an album and can not wait to get it clear. I do not know when it will come, but it will come.”

When asked about Kygo’s shoot to fame, the Crown Prince and Princess explained that “We’ve both heard his music and really liked it. We have also heard it with children and they like it too. His music covers a broad spectrum, they say.”

Like many Kygo fans, the Crown Prince and Princess will be excited to hear the album, and if the past year is anything to go by, is bound to be a massive success.
