Simon Cowell DJ show axed by Yahoo

Simon Cowell’s announcement he was going to bring his infamous contestant format to the DJ sphere brought with it scrutiny by many in the community, including Tiesto and Fatboy Slim. So a great sense of relief is likely to occur when we tell you it seems Yahoo has cancelled the production of the show.

With the rise of EDM into the spotlight it was only a matter of time until DJ’s were picked up on. However Yahoo’s documented struggles with live content shows seemingly has led to the unnamed program Simon Cowell was set to judge and help produce, to have its flame put out.

However, with Simon Cowell’s apparent drive to get it the show off the ground in the first place, it seems it won’t be put fully to sleep just yet. Fatboy Slim commented on the show earlier in the year saying:

“Simon Cowell was talking about doing a show and everyone in the business, he kind of started approaching us, and we were like, ‘F**k off, no – that’s a terrible idea! That’s the good thing about dance music; it grows organically through drunk people late at night coming up with stupid ideas. It’s not something that can be scripted or transported into a TV studio.”

So don’t count the media tycoon latest endeavor a failure just yet!
