With the release of his debut album moving ever closer, Norwegian producer Kygo has stepped into unchartered territory once again by producing the theme song for the upcoming SimCity game, BuildIt. The song, entitled ‘Fiction‘, includes vocals from Tom Odell, and is set to feature on Kygo’s upcoming album ‘Cloud Nine‘, which is set to be released on May 13th through Sony Music.

The track has the fun, catchy melody and synths that should be well suited to the new video-game and app. It has been well documented before that Kygo’s does not produce the typical sound that we usually associated with big buildups and hard-hitting drops that we often hear at festivals, despite his impressive performance on the Ultra main stage this month. In fact, it’s almost surprising that his music hasn’t been used on these platforms before. But it’s not the first time that the dance music world and gaming world have joined forces, with the likes of Hardwell, Vicetone and Mako all producing remixes for the League of Legends soundtrack earlier this year. This certainly gets us even more excited for the release of ‘Cloud Nine’, to see what else this talented producer has in store. You can stream ‘Fiction’ below.
