Nicky Romero is certainly providing a nostalgic essence to his recent work. Finally available for download, the eagerly anticipated “Novell” see’s the return of the Dutchman to his proven and prestigious progressive house sound.

Having received its worldwide premiere from Steve Angello during his Main Stage set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in April, it quickly became one of 2016’s earliest must-know ID’s. Destined as a feature masterpiece for the main stage’s of the world, the track also have a warming back story.

Choosing to name his seconding solo tune of the year after someone, his encompassing approach to his team is of note once again. Born in January this year, Novell El Khatib, is the son of Nicky’s tour manager and close friend, Hatim. And given the Protocol Label is a tight-knit group, Novell is the most recent addition to an illustrious and successful family.

Stitched with swirling synths and a dynamic bassline, Nicky Romero brings an orchestral breakdown of uplifting melody and infectious strings to near cinematic effect. Littered with subtle hints of Eric Prydz in some of its layers, the track carrier a depth to its building anticipation. As the timeless leading synth returns for another flurry of energy and transcendence, one can’t help but recognize and remember, the flawless nature to his portfolio as a whole carries.

Recently touring Asia and having had his very own Protocol Stage at Tomorrowland Brasil, the label leader seems to be going from strength to strength since returning to full health and well-being. With the Protocol Recordings ‘Get Connected’ tour and with several new releases in the pipeline for the remainder of the year, as well as the third installment of the Nicky Romero Trilogy, lets hope the production never ends!
