Over 15,000 electronic music lovers were in for a treat this weekend as the eighth installment of the annual EMPO Awards was held at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico on Saturday night. Performers of the night included Don Diablo, W&W and EDX among many others for a huge event that was an incredible 10 hours in duration.

The EMPO Awards are the most recognized awards honoring the Latin American dance music scene. The immense event is organized by the EMPO music platform in Mexico which includes a record label, TV show, online media and events serving over 3 million fans in South America.

More than 20,000 dance fans from all over Latin America voted for their favorite artists, tracks and labels and the winners were crowned on Saturday night. The big winner of the night was the Dutch mega-label Spinnin’ Records which took home multiple prizes at this year’s awards.

Spinnin’ Records won the coveted award for Best Label for the second year in a row while Spinnin’ related artists Tiësto, KSHMR, Don Diablo and EDX also claimed major awards bringing the total to an incredible seven EMPO wins for the label. Megastar Tiësto, whose Musical Freedom imprint is hosted by Spinnin’ was awarded with the EMPO for Best Professional Career while the coveted Best New Artist award went to popular US producer KSHMR who is exclusively signed to Spinnin’.

Spinnin’ Records wunderkind Don Diablo who is also harboring his HEXAGON label, won the award for Best Future House DJ and Producer Of The Year. Swiss producer EDX was also a winner on the night with two wins: the EMPO award for Best Remix for his remix of Sam Feldt‘s ‘Show Me Love’ and the award for Best Indie Dance/Nu Disco Artist.
