Malaa – Illicit EP

Home Uncategorized Malaa – Illicit EP

Malaa has just dropped his first ever EP and yes, it is epic! Malaa’s career started with a performance in Paris alongside DJ Snake in July last year. Since then, Malaa has been asked to do official remixes for the biggest artists in the dance music scene, such as Major Lazer (Lean On) & Tchami (Afterlife). Due to this success, Malaa has played at several major festivals, perhaps Ultra Miami being the biggest & most memorable, especially with the Malaa gang standing behind him like statues wearing balaclavas.

The EP itself kicks off with a minute and a half monologue with dark vibes, entitled “Illicit Intro“. This gives you an idea of what to expect within the EP and the general theme, setting the mood nicely. The next track, “Diamonds“, has been floating around the club and festival circuit for a while now with the likes of Tchami & DJ Snake playing it in a variety of shows, from small stage clubs to large festivals such as Ultra, proving it can be played anywhere.

This is followed by “Frequency 75“, which has a very nice combination of percussive elements & a tight kick and bass line mix and is topped off nicely with lo-fi vocals. Last, but not least, is the track “Danger“. This track is great way to finish off a great EP, with the bouncy bassline and the awesome wobbles/growls working brilliantly together. In my opinion, this is Malaa’s best piece of work yet!

This EP has been released on Tchami’s imprint label ‘Confession’ and so this EP adds to the list of the mighty underground house music that the future house legend has released. If your into underground bass house, then make sure you keep an eye on Confession.
