From their newly announced action figures to their one of a kind stage design and sound set-ups, multi-decade recording artists Daft Punk have been EDM visionaries since the early 90s’. Their last album, Random Access Memories, was undoubtably one of their most successful releases to date. Having won 2014’s Grammy Album of the Year, as well as Electric Music’s Album of the Year, the French team up has gained their following by never being the loudest in the room, but always the most mysterious. Surprising fans by keeping that sense of enigma alive, it seems their brief hiatus has hopefully run its course.

Wendy Goldstein, Republic Records head exec. of urban A&R, slipped during a recent Billboard interview about an upcoming Daft Punk collaboration. This time, with R&B icon, The Weeknd. Goldstein went on to say:

Actually, we have a session coming up in two days with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’m a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.

And if that wasn’t news enough, last week The Weeknd himself took to Facebook where he uploaded a photo of two Daft Punk figurines sitting upon a speaker. Incorporated in the caption, two robot emoji heads and slue of positive feedback from fans within the comments. In a time where music truly shows no boundaries, a Daft Punk and Weeknd collaboration is just what the electronic music industry needs to solidify its importance in the spectrum of genres.
