Gorillaz to feature Snoop Dogg and De La Soul in upcoming new album

After the rumors began to circle around in 2014, it was finally confirmed that English virtual band Gorillaz were in the process of creating a new studio album. The group’s initial plan was to release the album in 2016 but with the amount of work going into the project, Gorillaz officially revealed that they will be dropping their album some time in 2017 instead.

In the midst of its production, some exciting news has recently surfaced regarding a couple of big names that will take part in this album. The American trio of De La Soul will be featured as well as another hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg. Pos of De La Soul was the member who revealed that Snoop Dogg has also collaborated with Gorillaz, saying:

“It comes when we feel we’ve got something that would be a great match for an artist. With Damon, it was easy because we love working with him. We’re about to be on the new Gorillaz album. Snoop was also performing on the record when we were over there. He pulled us to the side and said: “Hey man, we’ve never worked together, can we get this going?” Usually the lawyers will say: “You can pay this artist or maybe we can swap?” and then it goes from there.”

Pos also added:

“We actually sat down with Damon two weeks ago and he played us some of the new Gorillaz album, and it sounds amazing. He played us a track that he wants us to get off on his album so we got to get in the studio and put that down.”

De La Soul previously appeared on Gorillaz’ “Feel Good Inc.” and “Superfast Jellyfish”, which you can watch live below.
