Stylo G x Jacob Plant – Bike Engine
UK-based reggae artist Stylo G has teamed up with British beat-maker Jacob Plant to blend their sounds and styles together, With Stylo G providing the vocals and Jacob creating the instrumental, they have managed to create a great mix between Reggae and House music, titled the track “Bike Engine”.
Stylo G has collaborated with other electronic dance music artists before, including Major Lazer and Dillon Francis with their hit “We Make It Bounce” which featured on Dillon’s album ‘Money Sucks, Friends Rule’, as well as with Clean Bandit for their track “Come Over”.
Jacob Plant has had plenty of success too over the past few years, having released tracks on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label and Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye records, as well as being asked to do official remixes for Calvin, including remixing “Blame” and other major artists such as Rihanna, DJ Fresh & Tinie Tempah. He’s worked on tracks with some huge names in the dance music scene, such as Tujamo, making “All Night” which was released on Spinnin’ Records YouTube channel, and singer/rapper Example, creating “Reflections” which had support from UKF Music.
The track itself begins with Stylo’s catchy lyrics, supported by a smooth sub-bass line and an off-beat reggae style synth. This builds up and then drops into a louder bassline with a punchy kick, displaying his signature sound.
Bike Engine has already been played by many BBC Radio 1 DJ’s including Nick Grimshaw (who hosts the Radio 1 Breakfast show), which you can hear below via Soundcloud:
