Gorillaz begin new phase of album campaign with The Book of Noodle
Gorillaz have been busy making news headlines throughout this year. After the rumors of their return began surfacing, it was finally confirmed that the British virtual band are aiming for a comeback in 2017. The group is set to deliver a brand new studio album next year; though, its title and release date are yet to be announced.
While in the process of creating their album, Gorillaz recently revamped their website and launched an official Instagram account. On their Instagram page, they posted a timeline that followed their illustrious career dating back to 2000 when they released their 4-track EP ‘Tomorrow Comes Today’. The series of posts continued up until they’ve reached ‘Plastic Beach’, as well as some of their live performances in the past.
Switching gears to the next phase, Gorillaz began a new chapter to their timeline, which is titled ‘The Book of Noodle’. This particular sequence follows Noodle’s journey after the events of 2010’s Plastic Beach. As the story goes, Noodle wakes up in a Japanese fishing town and becomes an apprentice.
One day, she accidentally ended up releasing an ancient demon, who was identified to be Mazuu, and as a result, she sought out to destroy what she had unleashed. Mazuu eventually becomes decapitated and Noodle managed to escape and send herself back to her fellow Gorillaz band-mate Murdoc.
The story is quite fascinating and nicely kicks off the anticipation for Gorillaz’ upcoming album, which is set to feature the likes of De La Soul, Snoop Dogg, and Jean Michel-Jarre. You can follow the entire timeline of ‘The Book of Noodle’ below.
