The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” holds longest streak as #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100
This past summer, The Chainsmokers released their track titled “Closer” which features the lovely vocals of American singer and songwriter Halsey. Since coming out, the single has accumulated an immense amount of success in both sales and streams from multiple different platforms.
Even several months after its release, “Closer” is still one of the biggest songs of the industry, reaching the #1 spot of numerous music charts. On Billboard, more specifically, the song has not only claimed the peak of the Hot 100 charts but it has also maintained that same top position for the 11th consecutive week.
The Chainsmokers’ track beat out Drake’s radio hit called “One Dance”, which held the #1 spot for ten weeks in a row. This accomplishment makes “Closer” have the longest-reigning streak as #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 this year and become the 21st track in the history of Billboard’s charts to hold the throne for this particular span of time.
From being a lesser-known duo from New York to becoming international superstars, it is quite incredible to witness The Chainsmokers grow as artists. Especially having to combine their musical prowess with other prominent names such as Halsey, The Chainsmokers just keep on expanding their horizons and pushing boundaries to become two of the industry’s best talents.
