The Prodigy are one of the forefathers of the electronic genre still active today. Forever dynamic in their sound, they have been groundbreaking in impact in nearly all their work. Reflective by the major success of their album “The Fat Of The Land” nearly 20 years ago, their work since have spanned all genres of music.

However, we bring your attention today to some of their earlier work. Rewind 24 years, and dance music was rarely charting in the mainstream. Still emerging from the underground, the genre and The Prodigy themselves were pushing the boundaries by blending both heavy rock, funky break beats, and gritty synths. Embodied in the four-track EP, ‘Out Of Space’, the leading track of the same name also featured on their debut album, ‘Experience’.

A distinctive and distinguished EP from the dawn of modern dance music, the first single utilized  samples from the classic reggae track “Chase the Devil” by Max Romeo, and Ultramagnetic MCs “Critical Beatdown”. Highlighting the extended plays diversity and creative imagination, it was arguably their most successful work from their beginning years.

With remixes of their tracks making up the back half of the EP, The Prodigy showcased not only good music, but an appreciation for alternative musical tastes and direction. Now a commonality in the industry, the open inclusion of samples and remixes was seldom employed early on.
