Tijs Michiel Verwest, better known as Tiësto, has always been a legend in the dance music scene, having been a figurehead in the genre for many years. He began his career producing trance, releasing many classic hits from the 90s onwards. Without a doubt the most recognized track produced by the Dutch superstar is ‘Adagio For Strings‘, which has remained an iconic anthem since it’s release in 2005.

Over the years, Tiësto’s sound has certainly shifted and he has delved into countless genres during his time as a producer. The evolution of his sound has received a mixed response, with some fans welcoming his new style, and others rejecting it, urging him to go back to his roots.

This opinion is likely what forms the basis of the event set up by Special Touch, welcoming Trance legends to perform at a tribute night to Tiësto’s old style held at Club Panama in Amsterdam. The event will play host to the likes of Signum, Misja Helsloot, Marc Simz, Daniel Kandi and Airwave. Each of the artists is set to play extended sets with music that emulates Tiësto’s original sound, in an effort to recreate the euphoria felt at some of his earliest shows in Amsterdam.

“Every single hour he surprised the audience with his magic music-sets and took them on a journey to euphoric heights to surprise all of you over again with every new elements of life. The people who were there, all long to go back to those days. We’ve been working hard to put down an amazing and unique event of this kind in a smaller setting” – Special Touch

The basis of the event has certainly gone down well with fans, with the event quickly selling out. An event like this definitely proves that there are many people who would love to see the comeback of Tiësto’s old sound, the style that catapulted him into the limelight as a producer and DJ. Tiësto may not be diving back into trance anytime soon, but you can still enjoy what most would view as his most classic hit on Spotify below.
