Alan Walker x David Whistle – Routine

Alan Walker has enjoyed a flurry of releases in the twilight of 2016. Receiving widespread positive feedback, his latest offering is a further experimentation of his skill set and emerging sound.

Having only released “Alone” 24 days ago, it has already amassed over 50 million views on YouTube and over 24 million streams on Spotify. Reflective of his global popularity and rapid rise to an elite status in electronic dance music since “Faded” debuted just over a year ago, Alan Walker’s latest portfolio addition is certainly worth a listen.

Gaining over 1.5 million views in under 24 hours, his collaboration with little-known David Whistle reflects his admiration for the gaming industry as a whole. Dedicated to the scene, the track titled “Routine” is certainly a new direction for the Norwegian DJ/Producer. Also showcasing the talents of Barcelona-based Whistle, the Spanish producer’s alliance with the 19 year old have certainly provided another respectable addition to their catalogues.

Utilising vocal distortion more than his prior work, the melodic presence can still be felt in every chord combination. Carrying a heavier bassline than his earlier tracks, the atmosphere created is one that can both calm and motivate. With game-like synth selections evident throughout, “Routine” is certainly a welcome Christmas gift from Alan Walker and David Whistle.
