Major Lazer & Bad Royale – My Number

Major Lazer are finishing a massive 2016 in fine fashion. Teaming up the Caribbean beat quartet, Bad Royale, the track isn’t short of filthy dance floor vibes. After leaning from towards the mainstream radio airwaves for much of the year, the renowned and ever-lasting sound of Major Lazer has returned for the back end of the year.

Signed to the renowned imprint Mad Decent, the track utilizes a number of samples within the now iconic moombahton. Hybrid in nature, the groups sample of the all-time classic Jamaican track by the group Toots And The Maytals’, “54-46 That’s My Number”, it was always going to form a rather unique composition. Acting as the back bone for the track, the soft reggae vibes from 1968 never cease to exist throughout its duration.

Beginning with an extended cut of the pivotal sample, the tempo climbs to a flurry of synth’s as the bombastic drop kicks on. Infused with percussion and vocal chopping, the rhythm of the track merges elements of the moombahton foundation with trap.

Evidently a Major Lazer and Bad Royale track, “My Number”, is certainly worth a listen or three! Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts:
