Premiere: Kanu – Driver

As part of our Christmas special, We Rave You and Sosumi Records have teamed up for the holidays to deliver a whopping 12 tracks in 12 days, with one massive groove-infused weapon dropping each day. The arsenal of releases will include some Sosumi regulars as well as brand new artists joining the roster. Since its inception back in 2014, Kryder’s Sosumi Records has been the home-base for many previously unsigned artists and allowed them to reach new audiences globally. To kick things off, we are more than excited to present to you the first artist and track of the #12DaysOfSosumi special.

Kanu has been chosen to provide the series’ first release titled “Driver”, weaving together a delectable offering that packs in the labels’ signature rhythmic vibes onto the track. It’s a shining example of what Sosumi Records entails. House to its core, the clip meanders along a path of euphoric synthesizers and groovy percussion. A breezy hook played out by strings adds a nice finishing touch to the track, complementing its other elements to emphasize the composition’s island atmosphere.

Kanu manages to blur the lines between the various sub-genres of house that have emerged over the past year. His track demonstrates the growing niche of “groove-house” that producers like Kryder and Tom Staar have been recently pushing into the mainstream avenues.
