Premiere: Last95 – Metea

A hidden gem within the tech-house scene, young Belgrade DJ Danijel Cehranov, aka. Last95, is proving to be a talent whose ‘hidden’ status will not remain that way for long. Following on from the recent We Rave You Premiere of ‘Faceless‘, the Serbian star follows his toe-tapping anthem with a fresh new classic in the shape of the equally addictive ‘Metea.’

Continuing his experimentation on the borders of tech-house, We Rave You is proud to premiere Last95’s Metea, a sublime craftwork of musical production that represents a firm and confident approach to techno, yet also uses minimalistic subtlety to truly flourish. There’s an elegance about tracks such as this, which have such a moreish beat playing at its foundation. Unlike much of the tech scene, here there is an absence of the moody cut percussion and ominous atmosphere, and this distinct lack of gloom is both refreshing and makes for such a cohesive listen.

Here lies a track that’s devoid of eerie menace, but instead a production laced full of stirring atmospherics that will send shivers to your core. It’s got all the ingredients to make it a winner, from its melancholy, infectious rhythms to the big-room feel that takes it beyond the confines of a club space and out into the open fields of a festival. Throw in those funky echoes as the deep groove ticks away, waiting for this powerful build to detonate, and it is clear that we are looking at a real future star in the making here.

Having already played alongside distinct names in the industry such Adriatique, Karmon, and Tube & Berger, it’s a question of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ that Last95 starts appearing as the headline act for some of Europe’s biggest festivals. The project is accompanied by the opening of his own label Last95 Records, with a mission to promote both his music and the art/lifestyle concept that he stands for.
