Adriatique make their debut on the Essential Mix

Every single year the Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 puts tons of some of the most creative, forward-thinking and upcoming names in the underground on the airwaves for a specially curated two-hour mix. These mixes typically span a vast blend of styles and allow us as listeners and fans to get to now some of our favorite artists a little bit better. This week’s mix was something special, and came from Adriatique.

The Swiss production duo took their place in Essential Mix history with an extraordinary mix filed with some of the best of melodic techno and progressive house. Containing a large number of IDs, the mix was a real treat to the ears and showed why the group are amongst some of the best signed to Solomon’s Diynamic label. Artists whose tracks featured in the mix include Patrice Bäumel, Paul Kalkbrenner and SHDW & Obscure Shape. The sort of sound displayed in this mix is a style which is dominating European clubs and festivals at the moment, a dreamy blend of melodic yet driving techno and progressive house that puts the listener in a real trance-like state. This mix truly is something special.
