Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You (Makasi’s Version)

With Europe’s dance music scene bubbling with talent each new day, Antwerp based talent Makasi is well set up and steadily making headway towards gaining a standing for the production skills that he packs in up his sleeves. Having already shared stages with the likes of Afrojack, R3hab, Sebastian Ingrosso and Martin Solveig, there is no doubt about his presence in Belgian dance music scene, be it in clubs or at festivals.

His exquisite innovation on previous releases such as ‘Robot Error‘ with Indian talent Aztec and ‘Turn It Up‘ featuring Splitheatom showcase that the Belgian is a fan of funky beats and makes sure that his music is apt to get the crowd shuffling anytime. Keeping in line with his previous remixes, he now aims to make it big by lacing Ed Sheeran’s latest hit single ‘Shape Of You‘ with his infectious sound from behind the production desk.

Kicking off with a slow beat-work accompanying the melody from the original by Sheeran, the track sees the Antwerp resident developing his sound further in order to fit the original’s requirements. What stands out in the production is the structuring of the track – to provide enough space for the vocals and entwine it with a funky feel making it ever ready for clubs. The ‘drop’ features a mellowed down outlook which also makes it a great overall experience for an individual listener. All in all, there is hardly anything more that Makasi could’ve done in order to raise this remix a level above. Bringing forward his mature production skills and a worthy remix of titanic single, Makasi’s intentions to make it big in the scene in and beyond Europe are abundantly clear.
