Alesso remixes The Chainsmokers collaboration with Coldplay

Without a doubt, one of the biggest tracks of 2017 so far has come from the collaboration between Coldplay, and the irrepressible Chainsmokers, and their singalong anthem “Something Just Like This“, first premiered during a live performance at February’s Brit Awards. Now, the track, the only non-Ed Sheeran release in the current top 10 of the UK Top 40 chart, has been given a high tempo rework from Swedish superstar Alesso.

Following fellow Swedes’ Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s two night stint at Terminal 5 in New York, the powerhouse duo dropped the upbeat remix, later identified as belonging to Alesso, who started his career on Sebastian Ingrosso‘s Refune label, and teamed up with his mentor in 2012 for iconic track “Calling (Lose My Mind)”. The rework sees Chris Martin’s familiar top line pulled from the original’s 103 BPM, and replaced by a flurry of orchestral strings.

The track takes on a distinct Alesso feel with a heavily melodic progressive vibe about the production, which wouldn’t look out of place within the club scene. With both Axwell Λ Ingrosso, and Alesso, set to perform at Ultra Music Festival in Miami next week, this track is one that may be heard numerous times over the course of the weekend. The news comes just a few days after Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, and Axwell Λ Ingrosso manager, Amy Thomson, was forced to deny on social networking site Twitter, that Alesso was set to join forces with the Swedish pair, to form a new Swedish House Mafia line-up, replacing former member and fellow Swede, Steve Angello. The trio famously split in 2012, playing their last ever show at Ultra Miami the following year.

The remix can be found below from a fan video taken at Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s Terminal 5 event, so take a listen, and let us know your thoughts below!
