The Chainsmokers take home the most awards at iHeart Radio Music Awards

At this year’s iHeart Radio Music Awards event, The Chainsmokers stole the limelight and collected the most awards, beating the likes of Canadian rap star Drake and indie rockers Twenty One Pilots. The duo were nominated 11 times for 9 different categories (they had two songs in two different categories) and won awards for five of these nominations. Drake collected 4 throughout the evening, the same amount as Twenty One Pilots.

The Chainsmokers won the following:

  • Best New Artist 
  • Best New Pop Artist (New Category)
  • Dance Song of the Year: “Closer (ft. Halsey)”
  • Dance Artist of the Year
  • Dance Album of the Year: Collage EP

After The Chainsmokers won Dance Song of the Year for ‘Closer (ft. Halsey)’ , they decided to show their support for the electronic dance music scene in their acceptance speech, claiming it now has a lot of influence on other genres such as pop and rock.
