A remake of the 1995 anime ‘Ghost In The Shell‘, the 2017 live-action film version will feature a 12-track album led by notable artists such as Boys Noize, 2 time Grammy nominee Steve Aoki, and Above & Beyond.

Despite high praise for Steve Aoki’s remix of Kenji Kawai‘s “Utai IV Reawakening” which features on the album, the name that is grabbing people’s attention is Boys Noize. The German-born DJ/Producer, whose real name is Alexander Ridha, is no stranger to composing for film scores. His track “Mayday” from his Mayday LP featured on the soundtrack for Oliver Stone‘s ‘Snowden’, and he also remixed Craig Armstrong‘s Secret Downloading. He also composed a track with 6-time Grammy Award winning Producer/DJ, and OWSLA founder, Skrillex for the Snowden soundtrack.

“Cathryn’s Peak” however, gives off an anarchic, and dire vibe. Dark, ominous lead synths dominate the track while sounding smooth and fluid. Complimenting the plot’s malicious feel, Ridha uses deep basslines, BitCrushing & futuristic electronica synths to help encapsulate audiences’ attention, and render their eyes fixated on the screen.

‘Ghost in the Shell’ was released yesterday in the US and Canada, and is due for release in China, Estonia, Japan and Lithuania on April 7. The film premiered in Japan on March 16 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and in Seoul, South Korea on March 17. Be sure to preview Boys Noize’s “Cathryn’s Peak” below, and purchase it from iTunes.
