At Creamfields last year, organizers debuted a revolutionary new stage, the Steel Yard. A colossal megastructure in the shape of an arch, comparable to an aircraft hanger, the stage provided the ideal environment for jaw-dropping performances coupled with exquisite visual displays. The stage itself became a phenomenon overnight, and was without doubt the most talked about structure during the event, so when we heard that Creamfields were taking the Steel Yard to London for two spectacular events, we knew we were in for a treat.

On Sunday 28th May, the Steel Yard played host to an all-star lineup, headlined by Swedish superstar duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso. The likes of Faithless, Don Diablo, Third Party and Anthony Probyn were all on the bill, each providing stellar performances. House mastermind Martin Solveig was also due to make an appearance, but due to technical problems with his aircraft, he was unable to perform and made this statement via his Twitter account.

Right from the onset, the arena thumps with a palpable energy. Third Party take to the stage, and are met with roars of approval from the crowd. The duo clearly have a huge network of fans in the UK, as the crowd sings along passionately to each and every song.

Next up, Faithless’ ‘Sister Bliss‘ takes to the stage to perform a DJ set. The performance is absolutely filled with anthem after anthem, and Sister Bliss effortlessly controls the crowd as she reads her audience. Of course, as soon as Faithless’ iconic anthem ‘Insomnia‘ comes blaring through the speakers, the crowd erupts into mayhem, with every note of the track vocalized by the euphoric audience.

Future house superstar Don Diablo is next to take to the stage, hypnotizing the audience with his flawless mixing. Through the set he takes the crowd on a journey through his own releases, past and future, while adding a few productions by other world class artists into the mix. Don Diablo has the crowd in the palm of his hand as ‘Cutting Shapes‘ captivates the arena, while a burst of confetti has the audience screaming in awe.

The anticipation reaches its peak as Axwell Λ Ingrosso prepare to take to the stage, while ‘How Do You Feel Right Now‘ can be heard building. Within minutes the audience are well and truly at the mercy of the Swedish duo, responding audibly to every twist and turn of the set. Effortlessly capturing their crowd, Axwell Λ Ingrosso take us right back to the beginning with Axwell & Dirty South‘s remix of ‘Sweet Disposition‘ mixed with Ingrosso’s ‘Dark River‘, which unsurprisingly results in cheers ringing out through the arena. Towards the end of the performance, Axwell Λ Ingrosso drop one of their most loved anthems ‘Sun Is Shining‘, while the audience is so loud that it is almost impossible to hear the track.

Steel Yard is due to return to Creamfields this August as one of the stages for their highly anticipated 20th anniversary celebration, where it will without doubt prove to be one of the most popular structures. One thing is for sure, Axwell Λ Ingrosso made it their home on Sunday when they captured the hearts of the crowd with an absolutely unbelievable performance.
