WATCH: Daft Punk medley performed by French military at Bastille Day
Bastille Day is traditionally a day of huge celebration in France, with the French nationals flocking to the streets to celebrate their nation. With dance music bigger in France now than ever before, thanks to the success of artists like David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Tchami, DJ Snake, Madeon, and Kungs, this year’s celebrations paid homage to Parisian duo Daft Punk.
Widely regarded as dance music royalty through their perfectly produced tracks, the French duo have built a reputation as pioneers of electronic music, and with President Donald Trump watching, a military brass band performed a medley of the pair’s greatest hits. The U.S. president, visiting the country in honour of Bastille Day witnessed the band perform Daft Punk classics such as ‘Get Lucky’ and whilst French president Emmanuel Macron looked elated with the performance, Trump did not appear quite so happy.
