Music producer, DJ and Grammy Award nominee Deadmau5 is among one of the most recognised and leading figures in electronic dance music to date. Real name Joel Zimmerman, the Canadian-born musician is best known for his iconic designed mouse head he wears when performing. As well as countless tracks under his belt, Deadmau5 has his own imprint Mau5trap which celebrates its 10th anniversary later this month.

Yesterday, Deadmau5 announced dates for the second part of his ‘lots of show in a row’ tour. The new dates are set to elate fans where both musician and the colossal Cube 2.1 design will be arriving in Colorado and Canada. Further to the news of the tour dates, the star’s recent BBC Radio 1 residency mix encapsulated the excitement around Deadmau5 as the artist spun a mesmerising two-hour set with a guest appearance by Feed Me.

Over the months of Deadmau5′ monthly residency on BBC Radio 1, the ‘Strobe sensation has showcased new music off the Mau5trap imprint as well as a healthy serving of progressive house and techno which the DJ has a keen taste for. In the most recent mix which aired last Thursday [July 6], Zimmerman highlights at a selection of tracks from his label including the dark eclipsing sounds heard in REZZ’s track ‘Relax’ and the work by ATTLAS in ‘What You Do To Me’. The vibe was echoed throughout as the Mau5 threw down the hard hitting and pulsating track ‘Moan Groan’ by No Mana.

Equally, Feed Me continued to keep the techno sounds ablaze through the second half of the set with Kellerkind’s ‘Shakti Pan’, Enrico Sangiuliano’s ‘Ghettoblaster’ and a Maceo Plex remix on Stephan Bodzin’s glorious ‘Powers Of Ten’. Feed Me also dropped his own ‘Starcrash’ and ended out the set with ‘Shall Pet’.
