deadmau5 celebrates mau5trap 10 year anniversary with special event
10 years ago, everyone’s favourite Canadian Producer/DJ deadmau5 started up his label, mau5trap. Like any label, numerous artists have come and gone. In the label’s early beginnings, prominent modern-day artists such as Skrillex, Moguai, Noisia, Excision and Chris Lake all had releases in mau5trap’s early years. Nowadays, the label looks much different.
When Skrillex released his ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites‘ EP in 2010, it did wonders for the label. The EP achieved Platinum status in the United States and spent 39 weeks on the Billboard 200. It also topped charts in the US and Australia. The album-titled track ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ also received remixes from Zedd and fellow mau5trap signee Noisia.
On Friday, July 21, deadmau5 will celebrate a decade of releasing works in the town where he started it all–Toronto–with a club night at Rebel. Joining him will be REZZ, BlackGummy, Matt Lange, ATTLAS and Monstergetdown. REZZ will preview material from her upcoming mau5trap EP, while Matt Lange will deliver a unique, dark breed of Techno from his ‘Escapist’ EP. ATTLAS will share some of his most recent tracks including his latest single ‘What You Do To Me‘, while Monstergetdown will also be bringing his own flavour of Techno with a west-coast inspired punch.
