Tiësto returns to Ibiza after 5 year hiatus alongside Martin Garrix

Returning to the island for the first time in 5 years, Tiësto joined Martin Garrix on stage at a recent show in Ibiza. The 48-year-old DJ, whose accolades include an opening set at the 2004 Olympic games, has long been a mentor and personal hero to the current world #1 DJ. And visitors at Hï Ibiza were visibly moved as Garrix played along side one of the artists that he, himself had looked up to during his studies at the ‘Herman Brood Academie’ in Utrecht. The pair had previously collaborated on a track called ‘The Only Way Is Up’, showcasing a perfect meeting between two generations of EDM.

Tiësto, who is widely regarded as the greatest DJ of all time, had previously held residencies in Ibiza, notably at Privilege until 2011, before holding a one-summer scheduling at Pacha in 2012. Half a decade on, and the Dutch supremo has now taken his skills to Las Vegas, where he holds a gigantic residency at Hakkasan in the MGM Grand. Despite the EDM boom in the States, and Vegas in particular, fans were happy to see their trance hero back at the spiritual home of dance music – even if just for the night.
