Above & Beyond – My Own Hymn (feat. Zoe Johnston)

A live act like no other, Above & Beyond have garnered a reputation for their unique and emotional blend of psy-trance, acting as pioneers of the genre, reducing fully grown men to tears through their heart-felt lyrics, and love-filled mixes.

Teaming up with the incredible vocalist Zoe Johnston, who has voiced a number of previous A&B hits, including ‘We’re All We Need’ and ‘Love Is Not Enough’, Zoe returns to lend her melancholic range to new track ‘My Own Hymn.’

The production acts as an ode to compassion, forgiveness and celebration of the self, layered with unmistakable Above & Beyond chords, and a beautifully crafted trance-based breakdown. The release already looks set to become an instant A&B classic, and will no doubt feature in their highly anticipated ABGT #250 performance at the Gorge Ampitheatre in Washington next weekend.

“The track is about climbing out of suffering” said Johnston.

“Most of us have the freedom to make choices in life. We can choose to alter our perceptions, especially if they are proving harmful to our souls. We can also choose to ignore the perceptions of others if they are causing damage or doubt. If the songs containing other people’s scripts don’t ring true, we can write our own hymns of kindness, to celebrate the good in us, and make a decision to tip our chins to the sun again.”
