Having already entered the dance music sphere by teaming up with Zedd to deliver one of the hits of the last summer in ‘Starving’, Hailee Steinfeld has now joined forces with Alesso to bring us their latest collaboration ‘Let Me Go’ together with Florida Georgia Line and watt. It comes as the first release for the Swedish producer since his departure from long term manager Amy Thomson, and sees him take his music in an entirely new direction.
Whilst Hailee undoubtedly delivers exceptional vocals in similar fashion to many of her past hits, Alesso’s signature influences are much less obvious. Many fans may be surprised at how tropical and mellow the track is, coming from a man who has been renowned for his progressive house anthems and groovy floor fillers. On this occasion he delves into straight out mainstream pop, even adding a little county music twist. Centred around Steinfeld and Line’s vocals, the heartfelt lyrics tell a tale of two people spiralling out of love in a catchy and carefree fashion. Destined to be more of a singalong radio hit rather than a mainstage monster, Alesso shows his versatility in the studio once again by experimenting into new genres, regardless of whether it caters to the majority of his fans’ taste.
