Hurricane Irma ravaged Florida, and as Americans came together amidst the devastation, looters exploited the destruction in a horrible display of greed. Sadly, Markus Schulz‘ studio in Miami was no exception. Coldharbour Studios, the home of Schulz’ label of the same name, was targeted by the vandals while the DJ and producer was riding out the storm in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He said when he returned to Miami after praying in South America for the victims of the storm, he discovered the studio had been ransacked. Of particular value was the cold Pioneer mixer he won as a prize when DJ Times named him America’s Best DJ a few years back.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Schulz expressed his inability to understand how thieves could display such a lack of humanity during the natural disaster. It is unclear if he contacted the authorities or if the police have apprehended the offenders.

Although this is one example among many of the darker side of human behavior, the response of many more after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma demonstrates the best of humanity in a bad situation.
