ADE announces high-profile keynote speakers Underworld
While its stateside boom leaves much of its inner workings hidden, a journey through the incredibly intricate world of electronic dance music delivers some of the worlds most iconic events and performers. Two entities that undoubtedly embody this iconic status are techno pioneers Underworld, and world-renowned electronic music conference and festival ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event). For those who might not know, the British live act known as ‘Underworld’ have played an essential role in bridging the gap between electronic music’s underground, and its commercial success.
Back in 1996, film director Danny Boyle took up the mammoth task of adapting Irvine Welsh’s book entitled ‘Trainspotting‘, from literary genius to silver screen masterpiece. The film, which has since become closely tied to dance music, owes much of its success to its highly effective soundtrack, featuring Underworld’s anthem ‘Born Slippy’, a track that pounds in perfect synchronization with every veteran clubbers heartbeat. Earlier this year, ADE announced that Irvine Welsh would be one of their featured keynote speakers, to the delight of fans around the world, who will undoubtedly receive a unique insight into what makes the writer tick.
Breaking news from the ADE camp has just come through, completing the dream, with Underworld being announced as another incredible addition to this year’s event, set to explore the importance and power of partnership and co-production in the development and presentation of ambitious and exciting projects and events both grand and intimate in the 21st century. The good news doesn’t end there as the pair made up of Rick Smith and Karl Hyde will also be treating fans to a live performance for Audio Obscure at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum on October 20th. The event is free of charge, and capacity is strictly limited, subscription is possible by registering as a group of 2 to 4 people. The list will close on 17th October at 11.59PM, and the final attendees will be chosen and notified on 18th October at 4pm.
