Calvin Harris announced the next
Calvin Harris announced the next single from his album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 is going to be ‘Faking It‘, a collaboration with American hiphop singer Kehlani and rapper Lil Yachty.
The single has already been serviced to American contemporary hit radio stations in anticipation of it attaining chart success similar to previous single ‘Feels‘ with Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams. ‘Faking It’ is a groovy track, another installment in Harris’ post-breakup reinvention from sleek EDM producer and DJ to pop radio darling.
Previously, Harris disavowed music videos for the Funk Wav Bounces project, but a video for ‘Feels‘ with Perry and Pharrell quickly contradicted the Scottish DJ. However, it remains to be seen if ‘Faking It’ will also received the video treatment.
Although the singles have achieved the chart success for which they were undoubtedly designed, the album itself alienated fans used to his clubby material of yesteryear. Harris strategically eschewed his production style which made him famous and redirected his trajectory away from dance music to throwback funk and disco tracks.
