Major Lazer organise ‘Relief is the Mission’ benefit concert
Electronic music trio Major Lazer were at the aid of the Caribbean following two powerful hurricanes that wreaked havoc and destruction this year. Hurricane Irma and Maria tore their way through the islands and beyond causing devastation and leaving a mass recovery operation for Puerta Rico, Anguilla, Cuba, Barbuda, St. Martin, The Virgin Islands and much more. But the deep embedded Caribbean roots that lie within Major Lazer spurred the music producers to organised a benefit concert to aid the victims of the chaos caused by the hurricanes.
‘Relief is the Mission’ was the sole mission of Major Lazer’s to raise funds for the affected areas. Powered by BACARDÍ, 100 percent of the ticket sales went directly to the victims, with further donations flooding in through the trio’s Facebook. With a stage built at III Points Festival in the Wynwood Arts District, Major Lazer instilled their tropical vibes with a host of artists filling the line-up. Joining Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire at the benefit concert were Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, Latin Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny, Jamaican singer Tarrus Riley, multi-talented Trinidadian Machel Montano, Ricky Remedy, Happy Colors, and Jamaican recording artist Koshens with others also supporting the event in Miami.
But the night was truly headlined by the fiery trio as they dazzled a big finale and also took track requested live on Facebook stream. The event attracted more than 4,000 attendees who helped raise funds for the cause.
