Major Lazer‘s feel-good track ‘Particula‘, from their ‘Know No Better‘ EP, now has an official music video. Despite the criticism, ‘Know No Better’ has had great success. As well as peaking at the #3 spot on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Album chart, the EP has amassed over 310.5 million streams on Spotify!
Major Lazer draws plenty of inspiration from South American and African cultures, and often incorporates these elements in their music. In the ‘Particula’ music video, African artists Nasty C and DJ Maphorisa and Nigerian rapper Ice Prince all play a significant role. In addition to this, the video was shot and directed by South African filmmaker Adriaan Louw.
Major Lazer’s roots are tied deeper to South America than people realize. Jillionaire hails from Trinidad and Tobago, and Walshy Fire originates from Jamaica. With these origins, the recent natural disasters in Central America were undoubtedly a hard pill to swallow. As a result of this, the trio decided to host a relief concert in Miami titled, “Relief Is The Mission“, to raise money for those affected by the disasters. It was also announced that 100% of the proceeds would be donated to response groups such as ComPRometidos, Global Giving, and Save the Children.
