Looking back at the legacy of Axwell & Ingrosso, we will remember their ability to create captivating music, songs that stand their own and can not easily be forgotten. “Something New” is one of those songs.

3 years ago, the Swedish supergroup’s debut single was released on Def Jam Recordings. Featuring the familiar and well established vocal work/songwriting from fellow Swedes, Salem Al Fakir, and Vincent Pontare. In a bittersweet fashion, the first line of the song, “I see the dawn of a new beginning” symbolizes so much regarding the career of the two artists. In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe in November of 2014, Axwell said: ” This song kinda (sic) summarizes what we are about and this journey that we are embarking on”. The world premiere was then debuted on November 26 on BBC Radio 1. Also on that day, the single was first premiered for the Beats by Dr. Dre Presents: #SoloSelfie ad campaign that was released worldwide.

It was a memorable and hallmark track for Axwell & Ingrosso, as after months of studio work fans were treated to an uplifting and emotional progressive tune full of everything we’d expect from the duo. “Something New” was a successful track as well, according to Billboards “Hot Dance Club Songs” the record went to number one on the US dance charts and performed well in Europe too. The song even picked up the likes of American Politician Marco Rubio, who used the song throughout his presidential campaign. The duo politely asked his team to not use the song in an effort to stay impartial in American politics.

Still making a resurgence in the artists sets today, “Something New” is not a track fans of progressive house overlook.
