Following his debut single ‘Eon Break‘, Virtual Self, a.k.a Porter Robinson, has returned with a tantalizing follow-up titled ‘Ghost Voices‘. Robinson, who has been relatively quiet following the conclusion of his ‘Shelter‘ tour with Madeon, has been slowly resurging under his new alias, releasing what he calls “NeoTrance”.

Like many artists, Robinson has created a new alias to experiment with a different sound. Martin Garrix for example, releases music under the alias “AREA21‘ and played at Tomorrowland as ‘YTRAM‘. David Guetta‘ also apparently does the same, according to French DJ duo Justice.

Porter Robinson’s new project appears to be trekking towards a more dark & mysterious direction with reverberant vocal slices and arpeggios, dark lead synths and heavy basslines. While ‘Ghost Voices’ possesses all the traits of most Trance songs, it is most definitely in a category of its own, boasting a somewhat futuristic vibe.

In addition to his new release, Porter Robinson has teased fans on Reddit, by posting a photograph of a cryptic poster, which fans have since speculated its meaning to the very last detail. However, the general consensus, is that Virtual Self will make his live debut on 8th December, at Brooklyn’s Avant Garden venue.

In the meantime, listen to ‘Ghost Voices below’!
