The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Alesso & more share 2017 Spotify stats

With 2017 nearing its end, artists, managers, promoters and fans alike all take the time to look at the year in review. Shortly after iTunes named Marshmello as the third-highest-selling male artist in 2017, comes the annual Spotify stats. This year, The Chainsmokers topped all other dance music artists, accumulating over 101 million fans and 162 million hours worth of streamed music.

Although The Chainsmokers are unmatched by any other electronic act, other DJ’s have boasted highly impressive numbers. Tracks such as Particula‘ and ‘Know No Better‘ helped Major Lazer accumulate 88 million fans, streaming more than 68 hours of their music, while ‘Is That For Me‘ and ‘Falling‘ saw Swedish superstar Alesso, rack up 40 million fans, with over 18 million hours worth of music played. In addition to this, Zedd‘s radio-friendly collaborations with Alessia CaraLiam Payne and Hailee Steinfeld, saw him garner 65 million fans alongside 44 million hours of streamed music.

While commercial artists such as Ed SheeranKendrick Lamar and Drake rouned out Spotify’s top 3 most-streamed artists of the year, garnering billions of streams for songs such as ‘Shape Of You‘ and ‘Humble‘, the ever-growing electronic music scene has undoubtedly formulated a gallant effort in an attempt to gain further worldwide recognition ahead of the aforementioned artists.
