Avicii & Nicky Romero’s collaboration ‘I Could Be The One’ turns 5 years old
For all the hassle and disagreement that is rife among the genre’s fans, there is not much commotion when it comes to choosing the golden era of its rise to prominence – most followers quickly point to that 2010-2012 sound. What perhaps concluded that sound and style of production in 2012 was Avicii and Nicky Romero‘s collaboration titled ‘I Could Be The One’ or the alternate ID of ‘Nictim’. While it is tough to levy all hope onto one track that has received nothing but adoration from the dance music community & festival-goers alike, the giant killing collaboration from the then break out duo of the Swede and the Dutchman certainly has a shot at the title.
Donning a soothing melody, a stellar combination of reverb laced notes and vocals from Swedish singer-songwriter Noonie Bao, the track is an unparalleled exposition of the sound that helped both the producers make the grade. It shall suffice to say that the track had fans world over, with the vocals becoming an essential, if not iconic, Acappella inclusions in mash-ups, advertisements & festival sets during that time. Another gem of the years gone by, ‘I Could Be The One’ certainly stands out among the releases not simply due to its success on the charts but regardless of it – such is the love.
