BeatStats releases data on Beatport’s most influential artists of 2017

Beatport has been a huge part of the electronic music scene for over a decade, primarily a source for DJs to purchase music for live sets, but also catering to fans. As a result of the site’s stature within the scene, stats regarding sales across the year can give an insight into which tracks, artists and labels performed the best. Following on from another huge year of releases, BeatStats have revealed this year’s rankings.

Looking at the rankings, it is profoundly clear that techno and tech house have been the dominant sub-genres of electronic music this year. With Camelphat taking the #1 spot for both top artist and top track, with their hit ‘Cola‘ with Elderbrook, tech house has clearly monopolized the scene this year. Artists such as Dennis Cruz, Green Velvet, and Enrico Sangiuliano also dominated the chart this year, further revealing that the sound of 2017 has been techno oriented. On the label front, Adam Beyer‘s Drumcode has retained its position at #1, followed by Relief Records and Spinnin’ Records, which remains at #3 on the chart.

These results give a huge insight into which artists and labels have dominated the scene over the course of 2017, and act as a clear indicator of which artists to keep an eye on in 2018. Plus, the contrast between the artists topping the Beatport chart throughout the year and the artists who are headlining major festivals is eye-opening, and provides the opportunity to see the scene from a completely different perspective.
