Martin Garrix set to miss Ultra Miami 2018

Dropping their Phase One line-up announcement, Ultra Music Festival have missed one huge name off the list; Martin Garrix. Releasing a stellar billing for their flagship Miami event, which will take place in March 2018, the huge list of names released includes the likes of Tiesto, Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, and many more, but fans were shocked at the glaring gap on the reveal where their Dutch hero’s name should have stood.

Having enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past few years, twice claiming DJ Mag’s #1 DJ in the world award, for 2016 and 2017, the youngster has enjoyed a relentless touring schedule, playing at various shows including Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and ADE. But for the 20th anniversary celebrations at Ultra, organisers have decided to exclude the ‘Pizza’ producer; instead promising a series of special live shows and b2b sets, including Tchami x Malaa, who recently teamed up on their widely acclaimed ‘No Redemption‘ tour.

With many yet-to-be-announced names expected to drop across Phase Two, including the likes of Steve Angello, Above & Beyond, and Oliver Heldens, Garrix fans had hoped that the European DJ would be the leading jewel in the Phase Two crown. But Martin himself took to Twitter to confirm to his fans that the news was indeed true, and that he would be missing Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2018.

Though the reasons for such exclusion are not clear, one act who will be following in Martin’s footsteps is his fellow Dutch producer, Don Diablo, following a row with Ultra back in June over their alleged treatment of him in Asia.
