Eric Prydz’s classic remix of Steve Angello’s ‘Voices’ turns 14 years old

In 2003, there was no Tomorrowland, no Swedish House Mafia, and Avicii was 14 years old. However what was going on at the time grooved to the tune of Steve Angello’s “Voices”. One of the first singles to come from the Swedish legend was the 6th installment to be released on his own label, Size Records. The early progressive house record is a testament to the sound of house music at the time.  The track itself features a vocal sample from  Kim Wildes “Water on Glass” released in 1981. “Voices sound in my head” rings out through the whole track as the rolling baseline and vintage sounding drums beat on. The track received two remixes from some of dance musics biggest acts at the time. There was an Eric Prydz remix and Laidback Luke’s “Ready to Pop” Remix.  Eric Prydz and Steve Angello had another project side by side that year. They released the collaboration “Sunrise” with Zemya Hamilton under the name A&P Project.

DJ/Producer Steve Angello was cooking up old classics at the time. 2003 was a big year for Size records and Steve. 2003 saw the first release ever on Size titled “Rhythm Style” from the man himself.  In 2003 Steve Angello also released the sexy “Fresh Coffee”. In January of 2003, Angello released the funky “Miami Nice”. To put the timeframe into perspective, Angello’s remix of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” from the Eurythmics came shortly after in 2004.
