deadmau5 performs as Testpilot at Holy Ship 2018
Testpilot is just another one of deadmau5‘ aliases, one which the Canadian uses to deliver good old fashioned techno music. Joel Zimmerman took the moniker to Holy Ship! 11.0 last Thursday, the January 11th for a rise-and-shine morning set. The moniker was first used almost four years ago (back in 2014) alongside Richie Hawtin at SXSW. Joel has since played as Testpilot a few times and it’s always been a treat, especially to fans who favour sounds of the underground.
You’ve got to give credit where credit is due. The Canadian trouble-maker certainly knows his way around the complex world of techno music, often playing it out on in live sets and particularly in his BBC Radio 1 Residency takeovers. For his performance at Holy Ship! the mau5 dug into his crate and pulled out some absolute gems that varied from dark to uplifting. Tracks from the likes of Lewis Fautzi, Cari Lekebusch, Rrose and CTRLS were a wholesome treat for techno fans (full tracklist here).
Fans managed to capture videos of the performance and piece together the 90 minute set. Check it out in full below.
