2017 has been a great year for trance music, and even though the genre has endured lots of criticism throughout the years, especially when big room and commercial started to take over, trance is still very much alive today. Armin van Buuren‘s ‘A State Of Trance’ radio show (and ASOT festival) are bigger than ever and the Trance Energy brand is another great example of the popularity of trance music. The Trance Energy concept made it’s Tomorrowland debut last year, and it was a huge success. If you’re a big trance fan, but didn’t manage to be a part of it last year, then here’s some pretty huge news for you. ID&T, the organizers of Tomorrowland, have decided to bring back the brand to host a stage at this years edition of the extremely popular festival in Belgium.

Trance Energy was the first festival completely dedicated to trance and it was held for the first time back in 1999, when Tiësto had just burst onto the scene. It quickly grew to become the best-known trance festival in the world, attracting over 40,000 trance fans from around the globe to De Jaarbeurs in Utrecht (The Netherlands) in its peak days. Besides Tiësto, big names like Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, ATB, Cosmic Gate, Johan Gielen, Ferry Corsten and Avicii have performed at Trance Energy throughout the years, and for last year’s edition at Tomorrowland both Cosmic Gate and Ferry Corsten returned to the stage. Practically all artists in the trance genre have contributed to this popular trance event at one time or another in their careers.

The line-up of the Trance Energy stage at Tomorrowland 2018 has not yet been revealed, but if it’s anything like last year’s, trance fans can expect something huge. Besides, ID&T have even bigger plans for the revival of the Trance Energy concept in the future, Rosanne Janmaat, who is Managing Director of ID&T and responsible for Trance Energy explains:

“In 2017, we took a tentative first step in relaunching Trance Energy. It proved to be a success. Over the past few months we worked on ways to position Trance Energy in the market again as a high-end events brand. Tomorrowland 2018 is one of the results, but we’re making plans for hostings at other well-known festivals too. We also have some ideas on the drawing board for a tour. It’s great to see that Trance Energy still has a huge following – the fans make it possible for us to take the party around the world.”

Trance Energy 2018 will be held in Tomorrowland’s first weekend of the festival, on Sunday July 22nd. Check out last year’s amazing edition right here, including performances from Johan Gielen, Purple Haze, Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz, Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten.
