Yotto delivers incredible Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1
Yotto has been one of the genuine flag-bearers of the deeper side of dance music in recent years, releasing a flurry of hit records on Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep label. Exploring a wide range of dynamic variety in his music, the Finn has now revealed a lifelong career milestone, displaying his joy at premiering his Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.
A progressive master, Yotto has garnered a reputation as one of dance music’s most skilled and versatile acts, playing a series of gigs and festivals all around the world, and earning huge support from Paavo, Jono and Tony, aka the Above & Beyond boys. His appearance at their ABGT250 set saw the producer play two magical sets, and his five track EP called North was released at the tail end of 2017.
Having earned 5 “Essential New Tune” nods by Pete Tong accompanied by 2 “Hottest Record In The World” choice by Annie Mac on the BBC Radio 1 show, the man himself posted the news on his Facebook wall and Twitter, and needless to say he was pretty enthusiastic about it. Check out the post below and put a reminder to tune into the much awaited mix on the weekend.
This is a special moment for me.
I grew up listening to the @essentialmix, playing them on my train ride to school. Discovering DJs like Sasha, Carl Cox and Deep Dish introduced me to the music that has shaped my life. Hear my Essential Mix this Saturday at 4am on @BBCR1 pic.twitter.com/z3MNuM3by1
